Miami Gardens, FL July 23, 2021 – UHI Clinic, community-driven free healthcare for the uninsured in the South Florida area, was honored to receive a $20,000 grant from The Miami Foundation. This award is a part of The Miami Foundation’s Community Grants program, with a focus on Access to Health and Wellness. According to Rebecca Fishman Lipsey, CEO and President, in The Miami Foundation’s grant letter, “We recognize your organization’s [UHI] dedication to advancing equitable opportunities in Greater Miami and to building progress together with local residents.”
The Miami Foundation’s award will support UHI’s mission to bridge the gap between innovative healthcare solutions and treatment for underserved, marginalized communities in Miami-Dade County. It will act as a capacity-building grant to develop a program evaluation model for chronic disease management in our patient population.
“The Miami Foundation has been an incredible support to the clinic, especially in this pandemic period. We are really excited about the learning and growth opportunities this grant will bring to our clinic. It will hopefully show us ways to assist with better patient outcomes. This grant is a recognition of all the hard work our staff and volunteers put in everyday. We are truly honored to receive this grant and for the opportunity that comes with this show of support. We look forward to working with The Miami Foundation to provide quality health care to those without insurance in our community,” said Syeda Baig, Program Manager at UHI.
